101st Airborne Museum Bastogne

Battle of the Bulge Museum

Battle of the Bulge, Bastogne and 101st Airborne Division

The 101st Airborne Division was rushed to Bastogne in december 1944. This division played an iconic role to stop the German winter offensive, known as the Battle of the Bulge. A few years ago this museum was opened in Bastogne to remember this costly World war II battle.

The 101st Airborne museum is located in the former officers mess building of the Belgium Army; “Le Mess Museum”. During World War II it served the Germans to house NCO’s and after the liberartion it was a Red Cross hospital. This grand building is very fitting to show the military history of the 101st Airborne during the Battle of the Bulge. The Battle of the Bulge comes to life in unique displays with realistic looking mannequins. And of course there is a big collection of original items of this dramatic battle.
